The Monitor Model 11HD Force Pump is capable of pumping water from depths of up to 250 feet.
The pump stroke setting and cylinder inside diameter determine the maximum pumping depth. Please refer to the well cylinders listed below.
TO DETERMINE IF A DEEP WELL HAND PUMP WILL WORK IN YOUR APPLICATION YOU NEED TO KNOW THE FOLLOWING:
A - THE DISTANCE FROM THE TOP OF THE WELL CASING TO THE SURFACE OF THE WATER IN THE WELL
B - THE DISTANCE FROM THE TOP OF THE WELL CASING TO THE BOTTOM OF THE WELL - especially if there is not much water in the well
C - THE INSIDE DIAMETER OF THE WELL CASING.
D - THE AMOUNT OF ROOM INSIDE THE WELL CASING IF IT IS GOING TO BE INSTALLED AS A BACK UP TO AN ELECTRIC PUMP ALREADY IN THE WELL.
THE MAJOR COMPONENTS OF A MONITOR DEEP WELL HAND PUMP ARE:
1 - PUMP STAND - the component that sits on top of the well casing with the handle that operates the cylinder. Has a sealed top chamber to keep contaminants out of the water. Discharges water out the spout or forces the water to another location (with optional hose adapter) - made of cast iron, brass and steel - operated by hand or windmill - has adjustable stroke setting - 5", 7 1/2" or 10". The 5" setting allows you to pump water from the greatest depth but with the least volume, the 10" setting allows you to pump water from a lesser depth with more volume (refer to the cylinder section below for details) - can be made freeze proof by drilling a 1/8" hole in the drop pipe (water supply pipe) below the frost depth in your local area.
2 - PIPE FLANGE (also called pump flange) - attaches the pump stand to the well casing - order in the options & accessories section below. NOTE: The pump stand can be bolted directly to the top cover of a dug well without using a pipe flange.
3 - WELL CYLINDER - the actual pumping component that goes down the well - order in the options and accessories section below.
4 - WELL CASING - installed by a well driller - 4",5" and 6" are common sizes
5 - DROP PIPE(not included) connects the pump stand to the well cylinder and carries the water to the surface 1-1/4" I.D. galvanized steel or rigid PVC plastic - purchase locally
6 - PUMP ROD (not included) located inside the drop pipe connects the pump handle to the plunger assembly in the cylinder 7/16" diameter galvanized steel or stainless steel, or use 3/8" galvanized pipe with custom made adapters to connect to 7/16" plunger in cylinder and upper rod in pump stand - purchase locally
You can save money by purchasing the drop pipe and pump rod locally because of the cost of shipping them. You will require enough drop pipe to locate the cylinder about 15 feet below the surface of the water in the well, keeping in mind the water level may drop in the dry time of year. The bottom of the cylinder must also not be closer than 1 foot from the bottom of the well.
You will also require the same length of pump rod.
The pieces of drop pipe and pump rod must be the same length so they can be assembled - the rod fits inside the pipe. The pipe and rod need to have a male thread on one end and a female coupling on the other end, so they can be screwed together as they are lowered down the well. You will need strong equipment to support the components as they are assembled - you do not want to drop anything down the well as it will difficult to impossible to retrieve.
These hand pump sets can be installed in a well beside an existing submersible pump or surface mounted jet pump to provide a manual back up in case of a power failure, providing there is enough room inside the well - the smallest cylinder requires 2" of clearance as close to the center of the well casing as possible.

The Monitor Model 12HD Force Pump has a shut off valve in the discharge spout, when this valve is closed water can be pumped out the back of the pump through a 1 1/4" female pipe threaded port. It is capable of pumping water from depths of up to 250 feet.

INSTALLATION:
The VU-FLOW filter should be installed between the pump and pressure tank so that system pressure will back wash the screen when the purge valve is opened. It can be installed between a jet pump and the foot valve - BUT: THE FILTER MUST KEPT CLEAN SO THAT WATER FLOW TO THE PUMP IS NEVER BLOCKED, THIS CAN BURN OUT THE PUMP!
The inlet and outlet ports are 1 1/2” slip fit (PVC solvent weld) to accept standard rigid PVC pipe. Bushings with 1 1/4”, 1” or 3/4” female pipe thread can be glued in
PHILMAC Poly Grip Compression Fitting 1.25"
Body has 1.25" male pipe thread and connects to 1.25" poly pipe
NOTE: CURRENT FITTINGS ARE ALL BLACK AND THE COMPONENTS DO NOT INTERCHANGE WITH THE OLD BLUE BODIES
NO MORE HEATING THE PIPE OR USING HOSE CLAMPS!
